Things to consider before visiting…
Since last week the Nurburgring management team have announced and indeed re-opened the famous Green Hell for people to start throwing their first laps for 2020 season.
But does this mean that we can all go out there and flood the car parkings, socialise and eat those delicious pancakes from Devil’s Dinner? Well not exactly… so keep on reading.
Buy tickets in advance
Either by the use of the GreenHell Driving App (be careful as sometimes it doesn’t necessarily comply with what we want to do) or through the Green Hell Driving website.
Sales centers at the Nordschleife and at the Info Center will still be open with limited services but the less busy we keep them the better for everyone around. If you do need to use them, try to at least pay by card and not deal with cash. The less contact the better for our health.
Restaurants available only for drive through and take-away
The options for grabbing something to eat around the Nordschleife are various and most of them – if not all – will be available and open for take away. Social distancing rules apply normally of course, which means that you will have to keep your distance while waiting for that curry wurst and also wear a protective mask. So maybe there is a chance to eat those pancakes after all!
Where to stop, eat , speak ?
With the main parking spots around the Nordschleife closed down for the time being, the Nurburgring team have decided to open the GP paddock for parking use.
Social distancing rules apply for when you are stopped also as well as masks which are mandatory.
Touristenfahrten and driving instruction/coaching (Corona Virus or not)
A lot of people might not know this but being coached by someone professionally during TF days is NOT accepted nor allowed.
Reason behind this is of course the strange mix of drivers (and their skills), car types as well as the very high numbers of those involved during those days. In order to improve your driving skills and methods you quite often require consistency, which is something that cannot be found frequently when driving on TF days.
So before hurrying to book yourself someone for active coaching from your passenger seat do remember this!
Of course friendly laps with someone you trust and value his knowledge of the track are by all means allowed and encouraged. So give a shout if you are heading there and need a friendly chat!
